Did you that our city's population has increased by over 60,000  in just two years and we are now at a total of 877,926- that is a remarkable increase of over 7 % and it only means good news all around. Mayor Don Iveson has stated that " Edmonton's population growth indicates that we are a city of opportunity." which means we will be experiencing not only population growth but more importantly economic growth as well. Our census reports show that Edmonton is one of the youngest cities in North America, with an average age about 35, which means we will have young people eager to work and keep our economy booming for years to come. Edmonton's population is growing all across the city, but the fastest growing neighbourhoods are in the south: Summerside, The Hamptons, Windermere, Ambelside and Tamarack. The city of Edmonton has been preparing itself for such a growth years in advance and with investments on recreation centres, buildings and transit.
